How to Set Up an Email Forwarder in cPanel

An email forwarder automatically redirects incoming emails from one email address to another. For example, you can forward all emails sent to sales@yourdomain.com to your personal Gmail or another business email address.

Steps to Create an Email Forwarder

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Under the Email section, click Forwarders.
  3. Click Add Forwarder.
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Address to Forward: Enter the source email (e.g., sales).
    • Domain: Select your domain from the dropdown.
    • Forward to Email Address: Enter the destination email address.
  5. Click Add Forwarder.

All emails sent to the source address will now be automatically forwarded to the destination address.

Forward an Entire Domain's Email

You can also forward all emails for an entire domain to another address:

  1. Go to cPanel → Forwarders.
  2. Click Add Domain Forwarder.
  3. Enter the destination domain or email address.
  4. Click Add Domain Forwarder.

Discard Email (No Mailbox Needed)

If you want to silently discard all emails sent to an address:

  1. In the Add Forwarder form, instead of entering a destination email, select Discard and send an error to the sender or Pipe to a program.
  2. Choose Discard (Not Recommended) to silently drop the email.

Note: Forwarded emails may be marked as spam by some providers since the email originates from a different domain. Consider using SPF and DKIM records to improve deliverability.

Managing Forwarders

To view or delete existing forwarders, go to cPanel → Email → Forwarders. All active forwarders are listed with a Delete option next to each one.
