How to Check if Your Server IP is Blacklisted?

If multiple clients report their emails going to spam or being rejected by recipient servers, your server's IP address may be on an email blacklist. A blacklisted IP means emails from all accounts on your server are flagged as suspicious.

How to Check if Your Server IP is Blacklisted

  1. Find your server IP from WHM → Server Configuration → Server Information.
  2. Visit one of these free blacklist check tools:
    • mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx – Checks 100+ blacklists at once
    • multirbl.valli.org – Comprehensive multi-RBL check
    • whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check
  3. Enter your server IP and run the check.
  4. Review which blacklists (if any) have listed your IP.

Common Reasons for Blacklisting

  • A compromised client account sent out bulk spam emails.
  • Client sent emails to invalid/purchased email lists causing spam reports.
  • Server sent emails without proper DKIM/SPF authentication.
  • A client's WordPress site was hacked and used for spam.

Steps to Get Delisted

  1. First, identify and fix the root cause (compromised account, spam source).
  2. Suspend the offending account and clear the mail queue in WHM.
  3. Visit each blacklist's website and submit a Delist Request.
  4. Most blacklists have a self-service delist form. Fill it in with your server IP and reason.
  5. For major blacklists (Spamhaus, Barracuda), contact SKPHost Support to assist with delisting.

Prevention is better than cure: Monitor your mail queue weekly, enable SpamAssassin, enforce strong passwords, and scan client sites for malware regularly to prevent blacklisting.

If you continue to face issues, please open a create a request.
