How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in cPanel

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your cPanel account. Even if someone knows your password, they cannot login without the second verification code from your mobile device. SKPHost strongly recommends enabling 2FA on your cPanel account.

What You Need

  • A smartphone with an authenticator app installed:
    • Google Authenticator (iOS/Android)
    • Authy (iOS/Android)

Steps to Enable 2FA

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Under the Security section, click Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Click Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code shown on the screen.
  5. Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code in the Security Code field.
  6. Click Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

Using 2FA at Login

After enabling 2FA, every time you login to cPanel:

  1. Enter your username and password as usual.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
  3. Enter the code and click Log In.

Important: Save your backup codes when prompted. If you lose your phone, you will need these codes to regain access to your cPanel account. Contact SKPHost Support if you get locked out.

Removing 2FA

To disable 2FA, go to cPanel → Two-Factor Authentication and click Remove Two-Factor Authentication. You may be asked to enter your current 2FA code to confirm the removal.
