How to Create an Alias Domain in cPanel

An Alias Domain (also called a Parked Domain) allows you to point multiple domain names to the same website. For example, if your main website is skphost.net, you can add skphost.co.in as an alias so that both domains show the exact same website.

When to Use an Alias Domain

  • You own multiple domain extensions (.net, .com, .org) and want them all to show the same site.
  • You want to protect your brand by owning common misspellings of your domain.
  • You want to redirect traffic from an old domain to your current website.

Requirements

  • The alias domain must already be registered.
  • Point the alias domain's nameservers to SKPHost nameservers.

Steps to Add an Alias Domain

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Under the Domains section, click Aliases.
  3. In the Domain field, enter the domain you want to add as an alias (e.g., yourbrand.com).
  4. Click Add Domain.

The alias domain is now linked to your main domain. Any visitor going to the alias domain will see your main website's content.

Difference: Alias vs Addon Domain

  • Alias Domain: Shows the same content as the primary domain. No separate folder.
  • Addon Domain: Has its own separate folder, files, and can show a completely different website.

Removing an Alias Domain

To remove an alias domain, go to cPanel → Aliases, find the domain in the list, and click Remove. This will only remove the alias linkage — it will not affect your main website.
