How to View Visitor Statistics in cPanel (AWStats)?

AWStats is a powerful web analytics tool included with cPanel that generates visual reports from your access logs. It provides detailed information about who visits your website without needing third-party tools like Google Analytics.

How to Access AWStats

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Under Metrics, click AWStats.
  3. Select the domain you want to analyze.
  4. Click View to open the AWStats dashboard.

Key Metrics in AWStats

  • Unique Visitors: Number of individual visitors to your site.
  • Visits: Total number of sessions (a visitor may have multiple visits).
  • Pages: Number of page views (HTML pages, not images/scripts).
  • Hits: Total requests to the server including images, CSS, JS, etc.
  • Bandwidth: Total data transferred to visitors.
  • Top Pages: Most visited pages on your site.
  • Top Referrers: Websites sending traffic to you.
  • Countries: Geographic breakdown of visitors.
  • Browsers & OS: Browser and operating system data.

Updating AWStats Data

AWStats updates automatically, but you can force an update by clicking Update Now on the AWStats page. Data is processed from your server's access logs.

Tip: AWStats counts bots and crawlers separately from real visitors. Look at the Unique Visitors metric for the most accurate representation of real human traffic.
