How to Create a Temporary URL for Your Website?

When you first set up a hosting account or point a new domain, it can take up to 48 hours for DNS to propagate. During this time, you can access your website using a temporary URL provided by SKPHost.

Finding Your Temporary URL

  1. Login to your SKPHost Client Area.
  2. Go to My Services and click your hosting account.
  3. Look for Server Information or the server IP address.
  4. Your temporary URL format is: http://SERVER-IP/~cpanelusername/

For example: http://123.456.789.0/~username/

Alternative: Use Hosts File

You can also preview your site by editing your computer's hosts file to point your domain to the server IP before DNS propagates:

# Windows: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
# Mac/Linux: /etc/hosts

# Add this line:
123.456.789.0 yourdomain.com www.yourdomain.com

After testing, remove the line from your hosts file so your domain resolves normally.

Note: The temporary URL only works for previewing the website. Email and some other services will not work via the temporary URL. Contact SKPHost Support for your exact server IP address.

If you continue to face issues, please open a create a request.
