How to Create an Addon Domain in cPanel
An Addon Domain allows you to host multiple websites under a single cPanel hosting account. Each addon domain gets its own directory, email addresses, and databases. This is ideal if you manage multiple websites.
Requirements
- Your domain must already be registered (you can register one through SKPHost).
- The domain's nameservers must be pointed to SKPHost nameservers.
- Your hosting plan must support addon domains.
Steps to Add an Addon Domain
- Log in to cPanel.
- Under the Domains section, click Addon Domains.
- Fill in the following fields:
- New Domain Name: Enter the domain you want to add (e.g.,
mynewsite.com). - Subdomain/FTP Username: Auto-filled based on the domain name.
- Document Root: The folder where this domain's files will be stored (auto-filled).
- Password: Set an FTP password for this domain.
- New Domain Name: Enter the domain you want to add (e.g.,
- Click Add Domain.
Uploading Files for the Addon Domain
After adding the domain, upload your website files to the document root folder shown during setup (usually /public_html/mynewsite.com/). You can do this via:
- cPanel File Manager
- FTP client (e.g., FileZilla)
Note: DNS propagation can take up to 24–48 hours after pointing your domain to SKPHost. During this time, the new domain may not be fully accessible.
Removing an Addon Domain
To remove an addon domain, go to cPanel → Addon Domains, find the domain in the list, and click Remove. Note that removing the domain does not delete the associated files.
