How to Modify an Existing Client Account in WHM?

The Modify an Account tool lets you change individual settings of any client account — such as increasing disk quota, changing the contact email, changing the assigned package, or enabling/disabling specific features.

How to Modify an Account

  1. Login to WHM.
  2. Go to Account Functions → Modify an Account.
  3. Select the account username from the dropdown (or search).
  4. Click Modify.
  5. The account details form opens. You can change:
    • Domain: Change the primary domain name of the account.
    • Password: Set a new cPanel password for the client.
    • Contact Email: Update the client's contact email address.
    • Package: Change to a different hosting plan.
    • Disk Space Quota (MB): Set a custom disk limit overriding the package default.
    • Bandwidth (MB): Set a custom monthly bandwidth limit.
    • Max Email Accounts: Override the package email account limit.
    • Max SQL Databases: Override the database limit.
    • Max FTP Accounts: Override the FTP account limit.
    • Max Subdomains: Override subdomain limit.
    • Shell Access: Enable/disable SSH access for this account.
    • CGI Access: Enable/disable CGI script execution.
  6. Click Save after making changes.

Changes take effect immediately. No downtime or restart required.

Note: When you change the package on the Modify screen, it reassigns the account to that package's limits. Any custom overrides you had set individually will be replaced by the new package defaults.
