How to Suspend an Account in WHM?

Suspending a client account locks their cPanel access and takes their website offline — without deleting any data. It is used for non-payment, abuse, or policy violations. The account can be restored at any time by unsuspending it.

How to Suspend an Account

  1. Login to WHM.
  2. Go to Account Functions → Manage Account Suspension.
  3. Find the account in the list.
  4. Select Suspend from the dropdown next to the account.
  5. Enter a Reason for Suspension (e.g., "Non-payment – Invoice #1234").
  6. Click Suspend.

The account is now suspended. Visitors see an "Account Suspended" page. The client cannot login to cPanel. All files and data remain intact.

Alternative: Suspend Directly from List Accounts

  1. Go to WHM → Account Information → List Accounts.
  2. Find the account row.
  3. Click the Suspend link in the Actions column.
  4. Enter a reason and confirm.

What Happens When an Account Is Suspended?

  • Website goes offline — visitors see "Account Suspended" page.
  • Client cannot login to cPanel.
  • Incoming emails are queued or bounced (depending on mail server config).
  • FTP access is disabled.
  • All files, databases, and emails remain on the server — nothing is deleted.

Note: Always notify the client before and after suspension so they know why and how to resolve the issue. Good communication reduces disputes and chargebacks.
