How to Use the WHM User Manager?
The User Manager in WHM (and cPanel) allows you to create sub-accounts that can access specific services — such as email, FTP, or webmail — without having full cPanel access. This is useful for client team members who only need partial access.
Access User Manager in WHM
- Login to WHM.
- Go to Account Information → User Manager.
- Select a cPanel account to manage its users.
Access User Manager from Client cPanel
- Login to the client's cPanel via WHM → List Accounts → cPanel icon.
- Go to Preferences → User Manager.
Create a New Sub-Account User
- In User Manager, click Add User.
- Enter:
- Username: Sub-account login name
- Email: Email address for this sub-account
- Password: Set a secure password
- Under Services, select what this user can access:
- Email – Access to email account only
- FTP – FTP access to specific folders
- Web Disk – WebDAV access to manage files
- Click Create User.
The sub-account user can now login to the specific services you granted (email, FTP, or web disk) without accessing the full cPanel.
Use Case Example: A client runs a business with a separate web developer and email manager. Use User Manager to give the developer FTP access and the email manager email-only access — without sharing the main cPanel credentials.
