How to Manage GnuPG Keys in cPanel?
GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard) is an encryption tool that allows you to encrypt emails and verify digital signatures. cPanel includes a GnuPG key manager for users who need email encryption or need to verify signed software packages.
Generating a GnuPG Key in cPanel
- Login to cPanel.
- Under Email, click Encryption (GnuPG).
- Under Generate a New Key, fill in:
- Your Name: Full name associated with the key.
- Email Address: Your email address.
- Comment: Optional description.
- Key Size: 2048 or 4096 bits (larger = more secure).
- Expiration Date: Set an expiry or leave blank for no expiry.
- Click Generate Key.
Importing an Existing GPG Key
- On the same GnuPG page, scroll to Import Key.
- Paste your existing GPG key block (including the
-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----header). - Click Import.
Exporting Your Public Key
Click View next to your key to see the public key block. Share this with anyone who wants to send you encrypted emails.
Note: Never share your private key. Only share your public key. The private key is used to decrypt messages sent to you.
