How to Manage GnuPG Keys in cPanel?

GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard) is an encryption tool that allows you to encrypt emails and verify digital signatures. cPanel includes a GnuPG key manager for users who need email encryption or need to verify signed software packages.

Generating a GnuPG Key in cPanel

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Under Email, click Encryption (GnuPG).
  3. Under Generate a New Key, fill in:
    • Your Name: Full name associated with the key.
    • Email Address: Your email address.
    • Comment: Optional description.
    • Key Size: 2048 or 4096 bits (larger = more secure).
    • Expiration Date: Set an expiry or leave blank for no expiry.
  4. Click Generate Key.

Importing an Existing GPG Key

  1. On the same GnuPG page, scroll to Import Key.
  2. Paste your existing GPG key block (including the -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- header).
  3. Click Import.

Exporting Your Public Key

Click View next to your key to see the public key block. Share this with anyone who wants to send you encrypted emails.

Note: Never share your private key. Only share your public key. The private key is used to decrypt messages sent to you.
