How to Upgrade or Downgrade an Account's Hosting Package in WHM?

When a client wants more resources (upgrade) or fewer (downgrade), you change their hosting package in WHM. The new resource limits apply immediately with no downtime.

Steps to Upgrade or Downgrade

  1. Login to WHM.
  2. Go to Account Functions → Upgrade/Downgrade an Account.
  3. Select the client's username from the dropdown.
  4. Click Modify.
  5. A list of all your available packages appears.
  6. Click the radio button next to the new package you want to assign.
  7. Click Upgrade/Downgrade.

The account's resource limits are updated instantly to match the new package. The client's website stays online throughout the change.

Before Downgrading – Check Current Usage

  1. Go to WHM → Account Information → List Accounts.
  2. Check the Disk Used column for the account.
  3. Ensure the client's current disk usage is less than the new package's disk limit.
  4. If not, ask the client to delete unnecessary files before downgrading.
