How to Upgrade or Downgrade an Account's Hosting Package in WHM?
When a client wants more resources (upgrade) or fewer (downgrade), you change their hosting package in WHM. The new resource limits apply immediately with no downtime.
Steps to Upgrade or Downgrade
- Login to WHM.
- Go to Account Functions → Upgrade/Downgrade an Account.
- Select the client's username from the dropdown.
- Click Modify.
- A list of all your available packages appears.
- Click the radio button next to the new package you want to assign.
- Click Upgrade/Downgrade.
The account's resource limits are updated instantly to match the new package. The client's website stays online throughout the change.
Before Downgrading – Check Current Usage
- Go to WHM → Account Information → List Accounts.
- Check the Disk Used column for the account.
- Ensure the client's current disk usage is less than the new package's disk limit.
- If not, ask the client to delete unnecessary files before downgrading.
